Knapp, Sorrisa I.

Sorrisa I. Knapp, age 94, of Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Sorrisa was born on July 21, 1916, in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Gustave and Helen (Geer) Schinke. On October 28 1936, Sorrisa married Marlin Knapp at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. The couple first lived in the Township of Matteson until 1944 when they moved to Clintonville. In 1953 they returned to the Township of Matteson where they farmed until 1983 then moved to the Township of Belle Plaine (Cloverleaf Lakes). Marlin preceded his wife in death on December 30, 1993 after 57 years of marriage. Along with farming with her husband, Marlin, Sorrisa worked at the Hansen Glove Factory, Clintonville for over three years, the Shawano Canning Factory for four years and as a nurse’s aide at Pine Manor Health Care Center, Embarrass for thirteen years. Sorrisa loved animals; she called them all by name. Her hobbies included gardening, farming & raising poultry, fishing and traveling. She was a member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Survivors include her daughter: Caroldene Peters, Bear Creek; Her sons: LeRoy Knapp, Clintonville, Keith (Marianne “Barb”) Knapp, Combined Locks, D. Marlin Knapp, Lawrenceville, GA; Her grandchildren: Tom (Erica) Peters, Milwaukee, Mark (Holly) Peters, New London, Kevin (Dena) Peters, Bear Creek, Kelly (David) Hicks & Steven Knapp (Fiance’: Tammy), Shawano, Karrie (Travis) Witkind, Littleton, CO and Brian (Kathryn) Knapp, Appleton; 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Marlin, 2 sisters, Alvina & Verl Schinke in childhood, her daughters-in-law, Shirley Knapp & Geraldine Knapp, her son-in-law, Marlin Peters, her brothers-in-law, Carl (Evelyn) Knapp and Albert “Bud” (Madaline) Knapp. Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends called at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting her family with the arrangements.
