Wandtke, Delores V.

Delores V. (Patton) Wandtke, age 91, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Hospice Care on Thursday July 22, 2010. She was just a few weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. Delores was born in DePere, WI, in 1918, to Raymond and Julia Patton. Delores was the eldest of 3 children; her brother, Orville Patton and sister, Lola Krause. Delores graduated from Little Wolf High School, Manawa in 1937. She then went on to earn her Cosmetologist, Barbers license and was employed by The Grand Army Home of King, WI. She also owned and operated Dee’s Beauty Shop in Manawa. On August 1st, 1949, Delores married Gilbert A. Wandtke also of Manawa. Dee and Gib had two daughters, Patricia (Voss) and Mary (Wandtke Brigham). In her youth Dee enjoyed golf and even achieved a hole in one, something she was very proud of. Prior to marriage, Dee traveled the continental 48 states and came home with many great memories. Later in life she also traveled to Poland to tour Auschwitz and Italy to meet with Pope John Paul II in Rome. Dee was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was very involved with the Ladies Alter Society, volunteered for Red Cross Blood Drives and the Girl Scouts for many years. Dee resided in Manawa until 1997 when she moved to Stoughton, WI where she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, her parents, Raymond and Julia and her sister, Lola. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday August 2nd 2010 at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, 176 N. Bridge Street in Manawa. A funeral mass was held at 12:00 on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 614 S. Bridge Street also in Manawa, with Father Brian Belongia concelebrating. A visitation was also held prior to the funeral mass from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesday August 3rd 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in Delores’ name.
