Summer concert series begins

This summer the Manawa area will have some fine musical listening opportunities. St. Paul’s Church will be sponsoring a summer concert series at the Triangle Park in downtown.

The music of Marv Nielsen and Amy Schneider, and the musical duo the Corner of G&S will be featured on June 20. They will do humorous folk, country folk, oldies and a little poetry thrown in. Rain date is June 24.

On July 11, Gary Ashenberg and The Old Time Sounds will perform, along with local singer Tammy Drath. Rain date July 18.

Then to wrap it up, on Aug. 8 is the return of The Arkdale Ramblers, who rocked the bandstand last year. Appearing with them will be local singer Jeanne Bauer. Rain date is Aug. 15.

The third annual Little Creek Music Festival will be held June 27 at Steingraber’s Farm on Little Creek Road northeast of Manawa. The exciting musical day will start at 11 a.m. and go until the playing is done – around 8:30 p.m.

The music-filled day will begin with the fine musicians of Loose Strings from Stevens Point, who call their music bluegrass, folk and swing. Next in the lineup will be the Heartland String Band from Berlin, playing their mix of folk, country and bluegrass. Next on the bill will be the three-year favorite The Arkdale Ramblers. This band plays great old-time bluegrass music.

All bands will all be doing a second set, and interspersed during breaks will be music by locals Drath, Bauer and maybe a couple more.

Bring a chair and bring a friend. Food and beverages are available on the grounds, and carry-ins are permitted. Information is available at www.littlecreekmusicfest.com, or contact Randy Steingraber at 920-596-3607 or 920-538-2072.
