The second annual Symco Shakedown is set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13-14, at the Union Thresheree grounds.
Hundreds of “traditionally” styled hot rods and custom cars will be the main attraction at the show. These vehicles are similar to the ones that roamed the streets of America in the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s, and will be featured along with vintage American and British motorcycles.
This year’s entertainment lineup includes rockabilly, surf and garage bands from across the USA. Friday’s show opens with the surf sounds of New Directions, followed by the Magneto’s, and Kevin Fayte and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Trio. Saturday’s lineup includes the One Night Standards, Pearls Mahone and the One-Eyed Jacks, with headliners Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics, and The Afterdarks.
On Saturday, Nashville recording artist Meaghan Owens will host a new for 2010 acoustic show in the Unionville Saloon right on the grounds. Local favorite Marc Simon will also bring his Game Show Mania trivia contest show to the Shakedown on Saturday.
The Shakedown includes a large automotive swap meet with several commercial vendors selling everything from T-shirts and vintage clothing to hot rod parts.
Weekend camping is also available right on the show grounds.
Weekend admission to the show is just $10. Kids 12 and under are free.
