Keenan stands out on all-star baseball team

Weyauwega-Fremont shortstop/second basemen Eric Keenan recently traveled to New York and Rhode Island as a member of the Wisconsin All-Star Baseball Team.

The team played 11 games in five games at the Triple Crown Sports Championships in Newburgh, N.Y., and the College Select Tournament in Warwick, R.I.

The team posted a 5-0 record at the Triple Crown Sports Championship. In Rhode Island, the All-Stars won their first two games, but lost their next three and tied their last game to finish with a 2-3-1 record.

Keenan was instrumental at the plate and in the field. Both tournaments were exclusively wood bat tournaments and for basically all of the players, it had been their first tournament with wood bats. Keenan hit .267 in the 11 games with five walks, four runs scored, a sacrifice bunt, a triple and four RBI.

His on-base percentage was even more impressive at .500. His biggest hit came in the second game of the Rhode Island tournament, as his bases-loaded triple helped the All-Stars defeat the Sportzone from Syracuse, N.Y.
