Quimby, Billie B.

Billie B. Quimby, of Waupaca, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at his home, where he wanted to be. He was born inWau-paca on July 3, 1926 to the late Bert and Alta Quimby. He went into the Seabees in 1943 and served in the South Pacific. He was out of the service for one year and then returned to the army for a total of 22 years of service. On April 20, 1954 he married Elizabeth Willard who survives. Together they raised two children, Patricia (Randy) Councell of Aurora, CO; and John (Nannette) Quimby of Stanton, TN. He is further survived by one sister, Etola (Jim) Bowersox; four grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. After the Army he worked for the Waupaca Foundry for nineteen years. For the last ten years he has been living with Alzheimer’s disease. In the last year he has been at home with the help of his wife of 56 years and Theda Care Hospice. He also lived for 3 months at Bethany Home. The family would like to thank Theda Care Hospice and also private nurse, Cathi and volunteer, Joan. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Charles Tews officiating. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home, with Military Honors following. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
