Shawn A. Kreibich, 42, Waupaca, was charged Aug. 30 with misdemeanor battery, felony strangulation and disorderly conduct.
Shortly before 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, Waupaca Police Officer Joshua Krueger and Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Zeamer went to the apartment building near Tower Mobil in response to a complaint that someone from the building had stolen a large can of beer.
Outside the apartment building, Kreibich approached the officers and reportedly admitted to stealing the beer. He also had a black eye.
While the police was questioning Kreibich, another man came out of the building and spoke to them about an earlier incident. He said Kreibich had accused him of having sex with Kreibich’s girlfriend. Then Kreibich allegedly grabbed a spoon and stuck it into the man’s ear. The man responded by punching him in the eye.
Kreibich then allegedly pushed the man to the floor and began choking him.
Kreibich faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
