Volleyballers open against Little Chute

The Lady Trucker varsity volleyball team opened the 2010 Eastern Valley Conference season with a loss to the Little Chute Mustangs by scores of 12-25, 18-25, and 6-25.

Karena Schroeder led the team with nine digs, while Nikki Kautz added 14 assists and three block kills. Nicole Hanson tallied four kills, and Dayna Seymour and Stacy Reinke added three kills each.

“Tonight was a rough night for us,” said Coach Katie Ripley. “A mixture of nerves and frustration made this a really tough night for us. We did not play our best at all, it was not at all how we had played in the Dells or at DC Everest. We will come back from this and play the next one like the team we really are.”

The Lady Trucker varsity volleyball team competed at the DC Everest Quad on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Clintonville beat DC Everest by scores of 25-20 and 25-13, but lost a tough decision to Mosinee, 25-27 and 15-25. Tomahawk also downed the Truckers 14-25 and 17-25.

Stacy Reinke led the Truckers with 13 kills, four ace serves, and seven block kills. Dayna Seymour notched eight kills, and three ace serves, while Karena Schroeder added 19 digs and Nikki Kautz contributed 27 assists, and two ace serves.

“The girls started off strong tonight and as the evening went on their weaknesses started to show,” said Coach Katie Ripley. “There are always some things that will need to be worked on and we are getting there. They are good athletes and they work hard in practices; now they just need to apply it to their games.”
