Waupaca man charged with bail jumping

Robert J. Cranford, 41, Waupaca, was charged Aug. 30 with disorderly conduct with a weapon, criminal damage to property and felony bail jumping.

Cranford appeared in court on May 11 when he was charged with three counts of forgery uttering.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, Aug. 28, Waupaca Police Sgt. John Helgeson met with a woman who said Cranford had become angry during an argument over the gas bill, punched several holes in the wall, threw a plate and other things at the wall, then used a knife to slash a bed mattress.

The woman left the apartment and stayed away for nearly 12 hours, hoping that Cranford would cool down. When she returned, he allegedly began yelling at her, so she left and called the police.

Helgeson went to their apartment, then took Cranford into custody. According to the criminal complaint, Cranford said the holes in the wall had been there for a long time and he denied using a knife to damage anything.
