Historical display salutes library

A window display saluting the Clintonville Public Library is featured in the Clintonville Area Historical Societies’ Offices at 36 Main Street. The display has been placed in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Libraries’ Friends organization.

The window, prepared by sisters Mary-Beth Kuester and Kay Kuester Doran, features photos, articles, books and other memorabilia from the Library’s History including a list of the librarians who have served, photos of past library locations and awards received by the Library. Clothing worn by Dr. Finney, who donated land for the library in 1917, is on display.

A portrait of Eben E. Rexford, whose belongings are preserved in the Rexford Room in the Societies’ History House, is featured along with copies of several of the books he authored. The Rexford Room originally was a part of the Finney Public Library on Main Street. The History House and the Rexford Room will be open from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 in conjunction with the Libraries’ celebration of the Friends’ anniversary. Honey Creek, former home of Dr. Finney will be open as well.

The anniversary celebration at the Clintonville Public Library will begin at 1: 30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. The public is invited to attend.

The Clintonville Area Historical Society will maintain the following schedule:

? The History Office at 36 S. Main St. will be open from 1-3 p.m. during the Fall Frenzy event on Main St., Sept. 18;

? The History House at 32 11th St., will be open from 1-4 p.m., during the Library celebration in the community, on Saturday, Sept. 25. The main feature is the Eben Rexford Room which used to be house in the Finney Public Library.

? The celebration of the Significant Numerical Date of the year will be held at Mathew’s Supper Club on Sunday, 10-10-10 beginning at 6 p.m.

? The November Fall Banquet will be held at Mason’s Ridge beginning at 6 p.m. with catered food and program;

? The 3rd Christmas Tour of Homes will be held in the community on Saturday, December 4. Time will be announced at a later date.
