Stroessenreuther, Martha Helen

Margaret Helen, Stroessenreuther, age 92, of Manawa passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at New London Family Medical Center. Margaret was born October 7, 1917, daughter of the late William and Emma (Specht) Piotter in the Town of Little Wolf, Waupaca County. She was baptized along with a twin brother in the Methodist church where Zion services were held while her church was being built. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in August of 1931 and continued as a faithful member of the church; graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1935. On October 16, 1937, she married Kenneth Stroessenreuther at her parent’s home. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1984. Margaret lived and farmed with her husband in the Town of Little Wolf until her husband’s poor health forced him to leave the farm in April, 1969. Other than farming, she was employed in restaurants in Weyauwega and Manawa, and at Ebel’s store. Then later for Dr Garvida for 18 1/2 years, before retiring. While retired, she made many, many quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was an active member of Zion’s Women of the ELCA. Margaret enjoyed gardening, dancing, bowling, baking (specialty was Christmas cookies) sewing, playing card games, jigsaw puzzles. Margaret is survived by her two children: Lloyd (Jan) Stroessenreuther, Phoemix, AZ and Ellen Timm of Milwaukee; two brothers: Walter (Rose) Piotter, Banning, CA; Elmer (Ruby) Piotter, Manawa; two grandchildren, Donald (Nadine) Strossenreuther and Jennifer Shukoski, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, three sisters, four brothers, and a grandson, Marcus Stroessenreuther. The funeral service for Margaret will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Manawa with Reverend Vilas Mazemke officiating. Family and friends may call at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Manawa, Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again at church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church
