Volleyballers beat Ripon, compete at Shawano Invite

The Lady Trucker varsity volleyball team earned a win over the Ripon Tigers and later went on to place fifth at the Shawano Invite.

“The girls played really well,” said Coach Katie Ripley. “They played as the love the game and that really makes a difference. They have the talent but they just need to have fun on the court and they really did that tonight. They were quick on defense and their passes were great! We hope to continue this now through the season!”

At the Shawano Invite, Clintonville took fifth out of eight teams. The Truckers lost to Oconto and Oconto Falls to start the tournament, but won the rest of their matches against Peshtigo, Kewaunee and Valders.

Kautz had 52 assists and 12 digs for the tourney, while Karena Schroeder added 42 digs. Reinke had 25 kills, 10 digs, seven ace serves and five block kills, while Richter added 18 kills, six ace serves and seven block kills. Nicole Hanson also chipped in 11 kills, 17 digs, 10 ace serves and four block kills.

“The girls started off slow in the morning, not playing to their full potential. In the afternoon they picked up their level of playing and ended up winning all their games in the end,” said Coach Ripley. “It’s all about coming onto the court motivated and having a high level of intensity, once to can do that all the time they we will be good.”
