Gorges, Marlin J.

Marlin J. “Marly” Gorges, age 82, New London, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010. Marlin was born on September 24, 1927, in Caledonia Township (Waupaca County), son of Harvey and Pearl (Laib) Gorges. On August 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Virginia Casey in Hortonville. Marly worked for Oscar Boldt as an operating engineer for 50 years, until his retirement. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Chris (Kevin) Jones, New London; Sherry (Tim) Yandre, New London; four sons, Chuck (Jane) Gorges, New London; Jeff Gorges (Suzan McBurney), New London; Greg (Julie) Gorges, New London; and John Gorges, New London; and a son-in-law, Dennis Koeppl, New London. Four brothers, Delton (Judy) Gorges, New London; Leland (Bette) Gorges, New London; Art (Noni) Gorges, New London; and Doug (Janice) Gorges, New London; two sisters, Edith (Harold) Johnson, Clintonville and Marcia (Rodney) Seefeldt, New London; sister-in-laws, Phyllis Gorges, Dale; Pat Gorges, New London and Joyce Woldt. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Marly. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Debbie, 6 brothers, Laurence, Victor, Roland, Vernon, Junior and Lyle; and a sister, Norma Jean (Gene) Grunwald. Funeral services for Marlin were held on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London with Chaplin Jim Frank officiating. Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery, Caledonia Township. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation will be made to the Martha Siekman Cancer Center in memory of Marlin Jay Gorges and Debra Lynn Koeppl.
