Bulldog volleyball places third at Preble Invite

The Bulldog girls’ volleyball team came out with some strength in Saturday’s Preble Invite with wins in pool play over Hancock MI. 25-22 & 25-19 and Milwaukee Bay View 25-12 & 25-17.

The Bulldogs lost a very close match to Green Bay Preble 25-21, 24-26 & 7-15 and also to Stevens Point 16-25 and 11-25.

In match play the Bulldogs lost to Stevens Point again 16-25 and 17-25.

New London defeated Hancock again 25-19 in both games. The Bulldogs were led by Taylor Williams 7 aces, 43 digs; Emily Steffanus 19 kills, 6 block kills; Emily Gorges 5 aces, 27 kills; Koral Handschke 26 digs; Mackenzi Steinert 25 assists, 16 digs; Lexy Zaddack 25 assists, 12 digs.

Hortonville 3, New London 0

The Polar Bears defeated New London on Thursday Sept. 23 in a very close conference match. New London had the game close until the Polar Bears came up with the win 25-21.

New London then struggled in the second game losing 11-25 and the third game was close until Hortonville blew the lights out for a 25-19 win. New London was led by Taylor Williams 13 digs, 4 aces; Paige Schlieve 6 kills; Mackenzi Steinert 6 assists, 12 digs. Hortonville was led by Sage Schabo 10 kills, Lexi Thiel 18 assists; Emily Inglese 18 digs.

Luxemburg-Casco 3, New London 0

The Bulldogs fell to the Division 2 third ranked Spartans on Tuesday Sept. 21 by scores of 11-25, 12-25 and 11-25. The Bulldogs were led by Taylor Williams 13 digs, Emily Gorges 5 kills, Koral Handschke 5 digs, 5 assists. The Bulldogs hosted Shawano Tuesday & travel to Bay Port Saturday Oct. 2 for the Pirate Invite. Look in next week’s County Post East for results.
