Bulldogs surrender to Cowboys

The Manawa Cowboys Pee Wee teams faced the Bulldogs Saturday, Oct. 2, at Berlin.

Manawa White 21, Berlin 0

On the second play from scrimmage, Manawa’s Dylan Moeller #17 intercepted a pass and ran for a touchdown. The Cowboys’ second touchdown was made by Chase Timm #1. In the fourth quarter, Bo Koehn #7 and Bryce Millard #8 had some good runs with the ball. Brooks Griffin #2 made a touchdown near the end of the game.

“I would have to say this was a very good game,” stated head coach Mike Koehn. “I’m proud of the players and how much they have accomplished. They did an awesome job!”

Manawa Red 6, Berlin 12

Manawa Red team took on the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. In the second quarter, Zachary Teuscher #28 made a touchdown with 5:14 left on the clock. Manawa had a lot of false starts. Nathaniel Reynolds #1, Kenny Reynolds #83, and Daniel Beyer #75 made nice hits. Berlin had a touchdown with :05 remaining on the clock, and the extra point was no good. The two teams were tied at the half.

No points were made in the third and fourth quarters. Going into overtime, Berlin received the ball first and made a touchdown; the extra points are no good. Manawa failed to get into the end zone.

“The kids weren’t fired up like they should be,” Coach Wiesner stated.

Manawa Black 18, Berlin 0

Michael Gray #23 took down a Bulldog so Caden Lick #15 was able to get through for a touchdown with 4:35 left on the clock. The extra point attempt by Billy Murphy #12 was no good.

In the second quarter, Zach Kreklow #22 ran 30-yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Lick was no good. Then Riley Murphy #98 intercepted the ball. Kreklow made another touchdown with 3:08 remaining in the quarter. The extra point attempt by Murphy was no good. Cameron Oltz #63 almost intercepted the ball and Lick sacked the quarterback.

In the third quarter Kreklow made another touchdown, but it was no good due to a flag on the play. Manawa had two fumbles, with the second one recovered by Berlin.

In the fourth quarter, Oltz had a hard hit on a tackle. Coach Kreklow tried to give all the players a chance to carry the ball, including Jordan Kons #99, Wyatt Osman #68, and Montana Ernst #5.

“They did a good job!” stated Coach Kurt Kreklow.

The next game is Saturday, Oct. 9, at Lindsay Field in Manawa. The white team plays Winneconne at 4 p.m., the red team goes against Adams at 5:30 p.m. and the black team faces Adams at 7 p.m. This game will be the last for the white and red teams, but it will determine the black team’s chance for the championship.
