A dedication ceremony for the River Ridge Natural Area (RRNA) will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9.
Light refreshments, trail maps and guided hikes of the area will be provided.
The RRNA parking area, where the dedication will be held, is located on the city’s east side at the corner of the State Highway 22/54 bypass and Godfrey Drive.
The RRNA is the newest addition to Waupaca’s River Ridge Trail system. Trail work on this site began in the spring of 2009.
This summer crews from the Youth Conservation Corps, Rawhide’s About Face program and local volunteers worked to complete major segments of this trail system.
The dedication will introduce and officially open these completed segments of trail to the public.
Plans are in place to complete additional segments of the trail as funds become available. Work on the River Ridge Trail is an ongoing project of the Waupaca Tree/River Ridge Trail Committee and relies on the community for donations of labor and funds.
