Besaw, Valeria B.

Valeria B. Besaw, New London, Age 89, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010, following a short illness. Valeria was born on June 20, 1921, in Bear Creek, daughter of the late Harley and Carrie (Christensen) Ritchie. She was united in marriage to Gerald Besaw on November 25, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1990. Valeria resided in New London most of her life and was a waitress at Elwood Hotel and Rainbow Supper Club for many years. She is survived by her daughters: Shirley (Bill) Sennett, Neenah; Sherry (Rob) Slosarek, Appleton; Shelly (Doug) Pagel, Neenah; her sons: Duaine (Linda) Besaw, New London; Doug (Kathy) Besaw, Appleton; Dennis (Donna) Besaw, Appleton; Dana (Sally) Besaw, Weyauwega; and Dale (Nancy) Besaw, New London. two sisters-in-law, Leone Ritchie, New London; and Loretta Ritchie, New London; and a brother in-law, Tom Sartor, Appleton;. Nineteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, special nephew, Dean Ritchie, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive Valeria. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Victor, Woodrow, Nathan, Carson and Regis; two sisters, Fern Sartor and Matas Whitman; and a grandson, Jacob Besaw. Funeral Mass for Valeria was held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Visitation was held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church after 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
