Geraldine S. Shostak, age 81, of New London, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at her residence. She was born on September 28, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late George Sr. and Gertrude (Glon) Sass. On January 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Ben Shostak in Antioch, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2008. Geraldine and her husband owned and operated Pine Lodge Resort in Antioch, Illinois for many years. She attended nurses training school at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. She worked at New London Community Hospital at various RN positions for 18 years retiring in 1989. Her interests included reading, gardening, going to Florida, and attending her grandchildren’s athletic events. Geraldine is survived by two daughters, Paula Shostak, Waupaca; Mary (Randy) Gorges, New London; four sons: Bruce (Barbara) Shostak, Le Mars, Iowa; John Shostak, New London; James (Jodi) Shostak, New London; Michael (Belinda) Shostak, Manawa. Thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, George Sass. Funeral Mass for Geraldine will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and also at the church on Thursday after 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Geraldine’s last wish was to thank her loving and supporting family.
