Third annual Chick Night Nov. 13

The Waupaca Community Arts Board will present its third annual Chick Night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Chain O’ Lakes Bar & Grill.

Donations of $10 or more at the door will help pay those who perform.

Entertainment will include dance, song and poetry performed by Nell Buchman, Amanda Niemuth, Tamara Jacquet, Kathryn Jeffers, Trina Reynolds, Kris Froemming, Ashley Gordon, Kassandra Sepeda, Pat Reckrey, Terry Kohl and Waupaca’s own Chain Saw Barbie featuring Barb Achten and Marci Beaucoup.

Women are invited to bring their gal pals, sisters, mothers and men who are in touch with their inner chick for an evening of local women performers.

The tables will be covered with butcher paper, and colored pens and pencils will be provided, encouraging those who attend to doodle, dabble, draw and to score the entertainers that they enjoy.

Marci Reynolds is president of the Waupaca Community Arts Board and says that this annual event gives women the chance to play music and do other artistic adventures together.

Like many of the events that the Community Arts Board sponsors, Chick Night has taken on a life of its own and has become what the community or audience wants it to be.

While Reynolds plays in a band with her husband, brothers and friends, she said it is sometimes nice to perform with women.

“The energy is different. The music is more girlie, and they listen to and respect the words of the songs,” she said.

“We have poets, a dance act, lots of singing, guitars, piano, percussion,” she said. “It will be a great night, and people can support the arts board by coming and spending a night out with their sisters. And men are totally welcome, too.”
