The Iola-Scandinavia Firebirds’ 2010 youth football and cheerleading season culminated with the year-end banquet at the Iola Old Car Show Activity Center.
The event’s festivities included a potluck dinner and door prizes including Packers tickets, Silver Lake Lanes bowling party, Fathead acrylic wall posters, Tundra Water Park package and an Austen Lane-autographed football.
The highlight of the banquet was a special player and cheerleader introduction by the “voice of the Firebirds,” Don Aasen.
Iola-Scandinavia Pee-Wee Athletics offers the program. The Firebirds fielded four football teams and two cheerleading squads this season.
“The banquet is our way of recognizing the terrific efforts of the kids throughout the season,” ISPWA president Mark Forseth said. “On behalf of the ISPWA board members, coaches, parents and, most importantly, the kids, I’d like to express appreciation to the businesses, organizations and individuals for your financial support. We couldn’t do this without you.”
The ISPWA presented an appreciation plaque to Silver Lake Lanes of Scandinavia for its continuous support of the Firebirds.
Plans are already under way to make the 2011 Firebirds season the best one yet.
