Schneider, Robert

Robert Schneider, age 85, died on November 7, 2010, at his residence. Robert was born on January 9, 1925, in She-boygan County, to the late Oscar and Lilly (Eisentraut) Schneider. He was baptized on February 8, 1925, and confirmed on May 10, 1938, at St Stephens Lutheran Church in Batavia, WI. His grade school education was in a one room school in Batavia. In 1942 he graduated from Random Lake High School. On December 15, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marion Frauenheim at St Paul’s church in Silver Creek, WI. For twelve years they farmed the Schneider homestead outside of Batavia in Sheboygan County. During six of these years he also picked up canned milk, delivering it to Slinger Creamery. In 1957 they ceased farming the homestead and for the next 28 years he managed farm cooperatives in Adell, Valders, and Ridgeland, all in Wisconsin. He finished his working days in 1985 retiring from the New London Farm Coop. Bob was a SPEBSQSA barbershopper for 30 years and sang in several quartets. He received the Barbershopper of the Year award in both the Barron County and Fox Valleyaries chapters. He held offices and was active in each of his churches, including Emanuel in New London where he spent the past twenty five years. He was a volunteer in numerous community, school and church organizations. Bob was a walker. For twenty plus of his retirement years he walked three miles every day, weather permitting, always wearing his red hat. Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Marion, three children, Joan (Tom Levinson), Sun City, AZ, Charles, Fond du Lac and Kay Fett, Peoria, AZ, two grandchildren, Ryan (Jackie) Fett, Sullivan, WI and Robert (Alison) Fett, Oshkosh, two great-grandchildren, Abigail Lilly Fett and Jack Michael Fett, both of Sullivan, sister-in-law Ruth Frauenheim, Antigo, WI, numerous nieces and nephews, two step-granddaughters, 1 step-grandson, and 5 step great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death include his parents, two brothers, Stuart (Mildred and Phyllis) Schneider and Ralph (Sharon) Schneider, brother-in-laws Harold, William, and Ed (Viola) Frauenheim, and sister-in-law Florence (Adolphe) Kegu. Memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London and Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Appleton. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Private interment will be held at Batavia Cemetery, Sheboygan County. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
