Village of Fremont residents will see a slight increase in the amount of taxes they pay to support the village’s 2011 budget.
The village board, at its Nov. 9 meeting, unanimously approved a 2011 village expenditure budget of $514,002. That budget compares to the 2010 village budget of $526,516.
The 2011 village budget will be supported by a tax levy of $280,881, which is up 1 1/2 percent over the 2010 village levy of $276,568.
The tax rate will be $4.70 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which compares to the present tax rate of $4.62.
The tax bill that village residents receive will include the tax rates of the village, county, school district, state and Fox Valley Technical College.
Of note in the village’s 2011 budget is an approximately $3,000 increase in the library’s budget. The library requested additional funding so that it can be open more hours.
The approval of the 2011 budget means that beginning in January, Neuschafer Community Library will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays. The library is presently not open on Thursdays.
