Local voters mirror statewide trend

Roughly 54 percent of registered voters showed up at the polls in New London for the mid-term election.

Incumbent democratic Congressman Steve Kagen was one of only two democrats winning in New London Nov. 2. Kagen defeated republican challenger Reid Ribble in three of five wards to win the city 1,132 votes to 1,009. Democratic incumbent Doug La Follette defeated challenger David King 1,079 votes to 981 for Secretary of State.

Republicans won in all other races throughout the city.

Ron Johnson defeated incumbent Senator Russ Feingold 1,089 votes to 1,033. Incumbent Assembly Representative Kevin Peterson defeated democratic challenger Jon Baltmanis 1,282 votes to 816.

Republican candidate for Governor Scott Walker defeated democratic candidate Tom Barrett 1,091 votes to 1,010.

Incumbent Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen defeated democratic challenger Scott Hassett 1,218 votes to 884.
