Pay-by-the-bag cost to increase

On Jan. 1, the cost of the pay-by-the-bag garbage option will increase to $2 per bag.

Presently, the cost is $1.50 per bag.

This option allows residents to take their tagged bags of garbage to the Waupaca Recycling Center, 601 Lakeside Parkway.

The center is open from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Only clear bags can be taken there with this option, and the maximum size a bag can be is 35 gallons and the maximum weight it can be is 30 pounds.

Each bag must have the official garbage tag on it, and the bags cannot contain any recyclables.
