Seagrave Fire Apparatus is building four pumpers for the Albuquerque Fire Department, New Mexico. Albuquerque is a high desert city nestled up against the Sandia Mountains on 188.8 square miles in Bernalillo County, straddled by the Rio Grande River. It is one of America’s oldest cities, rich in history and culture.
Chairman & CEO A. Joseph Neiner said, “Seagrave is very pleased to be providing Albuquerque with the safest and most dependable fire apparatus in the industry. We are confident that Albuquerque will have the best in-service time and lowest maintenance costs over the life of these vehicles.”
Each new Seagrave will feature a Cummins ISM 500 horsepower engine, a Waterous 2000 GPM pump and 500 gallon water tank. The apparatus is built on Seagrave’s Marauder II all stainless steel chassis, featuring Seagrave’s exclusive safety cage substructure in a 140″ long cab with an 8″ raised roof and seating for six fire fighters.
Albuquerque Fire Department Fleet Manager Frank Lucero said, “The main factors in our decision to purchase Seagrave were the construction technique of Seagrave’s stainless steel safety cage cab and body, and the service support provided by Seagrave.
The Albuquerque Fire Department’s 23 stations serve a population of approximately 528,497 and provide mutual aid to the surrounding area. The total metro population is 869,684.
Lucero said, “The Department was looking for a more dependable apparatus with better parts availability and lower maintenance costs. Seagrave provided an excellent solution to address all of our needs.”
The Seagrave dealer in the state of New Mexico is Fire Service Equipment in Rio Rancho, with an additional location in El Paso, Texas.

The first of Albuquerque’s new pumpers is due for delivery to the city in early 2011.
