The Weyauwega-Fremont wrestling team will opens the 2010-11 season tonight (Thursday, Dec. 2) with a nonconference home match against the Markesan Hornets.
Junior varsity matches are slated to begin at 6:30 p.m., with varsity matches to follow at about 7 p.m.
Last season, the Indians posted a 14-9 overall dual meet record and placed third in Central Wisconsin Conference dual meets, fifth at the CWC tournament and fourth at regionals.
“This season, we have 19 boys out for the team,” coach Tim Potratz said. “We will cover all 14 weight classes and will have a good mix of veteran leadership and newcomers ready to fill in the rest of the spots.”
Team members include freshmen Norberto Leyva, Brandon Loehrke and Andy Pribbernow; sophomores Tre Blohm, Jim Christensen, Isaac Danke, Trevor Potratz and Nick Thomas; juniors Allen Bentle, Ben Fox, Jared Gruetzmacher, Casey Lenz and Jackson Stearns; and seniors Casey Haase, Dylan Hansen, Mike Nelson, Devon Starks, Nick Stelzner and Collin Tidwell.
Rich Tomaszewski and Kyle Mannel are assistant coaches.
