Skalski, Katherine

Katherine Ann "Kathy" Skalski, 58, Lake Jackson, Texas, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010. Kathy was born April 6, 1952, in Iola to Keith LaVerne and Edna Ruth Borgen. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife and mother. She was a homemaker whose family meant everything to her, and she never went a single day without telling her husband, children and dogs how much she loved them and how proud she was of their accomplishments. A true artist at heart, she always used her creativity to express her love for her family and friends by making crafts, artwork and cards for occasions big and small. She wrote, "To me art is all about experimenting. You cannot discover what you like without trying new things." She was a very spiritual person and reflected that in her relationships, art and love for all God's creatures. She is survived by her parents, Keith and Edna Borgen of Amherst; husband, Mike of Lake Jackson; daughters, Kristina Skalski and Michelle Kesler (husband, Kent), all of Houston; son, Kevin Skalski of Lake Jackson; brothers, Ken Borgen (wife, Dianne) of Plover and Wayne Borgen (wife, Beth) of Scandinavia; sister, Donna Sowka (husband, Jim) of Stevens Point; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst with the Rev. Dwight Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Dec. 11 in the church. A luncheon will follow the service. Sympathies may be sent to The Skalski Family, 77 Rosewood, Lake Jackson, TX 77566.
