The season opened on a positive note Tuesday, Nov. 30, for the Weyauwega-Fremont girls’ basketball team.
Freshman Morgan Wilson scored a team-high 14 points in a 61-35 nonconference win over West DePere.
W-F outscored the Phantoms 15-12 in the first quarter and 13-10 over the next eight minutes to take a 28-22 halftime lead. The Indians had a 10-8 advantage in the third quarter and sealed the win by outscoring the visitors 23-5 in the final period.
Macey Schoenick and Jenni Hellwig also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Dani Austreng chipped in with eight.
The Indians opened Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Tuesday, Dec. 7, at home against Bonduel and will travel to Stevens Point Pacelli for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday, Dec. 10. W-F will also host North Fond du Lac at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, and host Iola-Scandinavia Friday, Dec. 17.
