Calvin Swanson scored a game-high 18 points to help Weyauwega-Fremont pick up a 51-40 win Friday, Dec. 17, in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference boys’ basketball matchup in Iola.
The Indians also fell to Laconia Tuesday, Dec. 14.
W-F 51, I-S 40
The Indians outscored the host Thunderbirds 20-12 in the fourth quarter after taking a 31-28 lead into the final period.
W-F led 14-10 after the first quarter and 27-19 at halftime, but the T-Birds stayed close with a 9-4 advantage in the third quarter.
Kyle Loughrin and Tanner Ross also finished in double figures for the Indians with 11 points each. Jordan Beyersdorf led I-S with nine points, while Lucas Albers chipped in with eight.
The Indians improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the CWC 8, while the T-Birds fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Laconia 84, W-F 39
Zach DeBoer hit five of six three-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Spartans over the Indians.
Laconia took control of the game early with a 31-point first quarter. The Spartans led 31-12 after one quarter, 50-20 at halftime and 67-27 after three quarters.
Loughrin led W-F with 15 points.
The Indians will head to Wrightstown Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 28-29, for the Wrightstown Invitational, while the T-Birds will head to the Stratford Invitational Dec. 29 and Thursday, Dec. 30.
