Edna H. Bartel, age 94, of Fremont, died on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was born on November 22, 1916 in the Town of Wolf River, the daughter of the late Henry and Minna (Zander) Schuelke. On February 12, 1937, Edna married Elmer Bartel. Together they farmed for many years in the Town of Bloomfield. Elmer preceded her in death on August 19, 1981. Edna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield, where she sang in choir and served with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna is survived by two daughters, LouAnn (Dale) Lind, Weyauwega; and Peggy Schmidt, Fremont; six grandchildren, Troy (Marco) Lind, Bryan (Tammy) Lind, Randal (Trudy) Lind, Terry (Fiance Renee Grachien) Lind, Tori (Paul) Pirk, and Jesse Schmidt; 11 great-grandchildren, Travis, Clinton, Christopher and Austin Lind; Jeremy, Heather, Danielle Lind, Tristan Wohlrabe, Hunter Brandt; Lexi Rose and Maleah Mae Pirk; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Irma Borchert, Neenah; a sister-in-law, Vernice Bartel, Neenah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edna was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carlton Schmidt, four brothers, Edwin, Gerhardt, Clarence and Elmer, and a sister, Estella. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 8580 37th Ave., Fremont, WI. Rev. Paul Fritz will officiate. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
