Classes help strengthen the mind

Those who are battling memory loss can find support, along with brain-engaging activities, at a weekly class hosted by Riverside Medical Center (RMC).

The “Meeting of Minds” program, offered by Bethany Community Care Ministry Services of Waupaca, is held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays at RMC’s Maasch Education Center.

The memory enhancement program is designed for people with mild memory loss. Each class features stimulating activities, intellectual exercises, and tai chi-based exercise. The goal is to help people with memory loss and make a positive impact in their lives, offering education, support and engaging activities that promote brain health.

“We offer activities that stimulate the mind and the physical body,” said Christie Gonwa, director of mission advancement at Bethany. “It’s all about slowing down the process of memory loss. We also offer education on nutrition and managing chronic diseases, such diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.”

There is a $5 fee per class and pre-registration is recommended.
