Bryan K. Bartelt, 38, Clintonville, was charged Dec. 13 with a fifth offense of operating while intoxicated.
On Dec. 11, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputies Mike Richter and Kevin Studzinski were dispatched to U.S. Highway 45 in Bear Creek in response to a reported vehicle in the ditch.
When they arrived, Studzinski reported seeing Bartelt placing beer cans in the center console of his car.
According to the criminal complaint, Bartelt said he lost control of his car due to the snow and ice on the road, admitting that he had consumed five beers.
Officers reported that Bartelt had a blood-alcohol level of 0.192.
He was previously convicted of drunken driving offenses in June 1999, September 2000, January 2003 and April 2008.
Bartelt faces up to six years in prison if convicted of felony OWI.
