Despite the snowy weather, it’s now time to register for the 2011 season for Waupaca Kickers Soccer Club.
The best way is to print the registration and liability forms from the team’s web site at www.waupacakickers.com and mail them with check and photo to Waupaca Kickers, P.O. Box 272, Waupaca, WI 54981.
“If you can’t print from the web site or have some questions, come to the Kickers registration meeting on Monday, Jan. 17, at the Waupaca Middle School auditorium at 6:30 p.m.,” organizer Nancy Miller said. “We’ll have registration forms at the meeting, be available to answer any questions and tell you about some exciting new opportunities in traveling soccer.”
The Waupaca Kickers belong to a competitive traveling soccer league that features boys’, girls’ and coed teams from Waupaca, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Wausau and Rhinelander. The Kickers begin practice in early April and play games in May, June and July, mostly on weekday evenings. Stevens Point will host a tournament June 24-26 and some teams also participate in additional tournaments.
Kickers soccer does not overlap with rec league soccer, but does coincide with softball, baseball and middle school track. No soccer experience is necessary; however, the games are competitive.
Every player must submit a completed registration form and completed medical release form; a small photo (the smallest school photos are perfect); and a check for $105 (for players age 10 or under as of Aug. 1, 2011) or $125 (for all other players), made out to Waupaca Kickers. First-time players regardless of age must also include a copy (not the original) of their birth certificate.
Uniform order forms and sample sizes will be available at the January meeting as well. Returning players can use last year’s Kickers uniforms if they still fit. A full uniform, including socks, is $35. Individual uniform items can also be purchased.
