Sydney E. “Syd” Faulks, age 85, of Weyauwega, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. On April 29, 1950, he married Ardys Reinert at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, WI. Syd co-founded Faulks Bros. Construction, Inc. in 1946 with his brother Oliver. He was the first President and Charter Member of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Wisconsin and a Former President of the Wisconsin Ready-Mixed Concrete Association. Syd served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a charter and lifetime Member of the Weyauwega VFW Post 10407 and Arndt-Bruley American Legion Post 176 of Weyauwega. He enjoyed several coffee clubs including the local “shake of the day” club in Weyauwega. With his characteristic “can do” attitude, Syd imagined and pursued several ideas, identifying challenges and creating new opportunities. Optimism was Syd’s lifelong friend. He built a strong legacy as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, always doing things for others and striving to make a difference in their lives. Strongly devoted to his wife, he cherished all of life’s moments, whether traveling with Ardys in their motor home or around the world. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ardys; four children: Randy (Susie) Faulks, Weyauwega, Bob (Christine) Faulks, Waupaca, Mike (Sue) Faulks, Neenah, and Lisa Tolfa, Menominee Falls; six grandchildren: Jonathan Faulks, Weyauwega, Joseph Faulks, Fremont, Julia Faulks, U.S. Air Force, Tyler Faulks, Neenah, Cassie Faulks, Oshkosh, and Laura Tolfa, Menominee Falls; a sister-in-law, Gladys Faulks, Weyauwega; and step-sisters in law Donna Faulks and Alice Stolzman.
