Bridge club meets Jan. 21

The Waupaca Duplicate Bridge Club will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the Holly History and Genealogy Center, 321 S. Main St.

Area bridge players should note that this game will supersede the game that was regularly scheduled for Jan. 28. Jack Rhodes will present a brief bridge lesson at 8:30 a.m., with play to commence promptly at 9 a.m. All interested bridge players are invited to attend, and it is not necessary to bring a partner.

In bridge action on Jan. 14, the field was again divided into North/South and East/West units for the purpose of competition. Finishing first North/South was Eric McVickar, Appleton, and his Waupaca partner, Bobby Burns. Betty Conte and John Hebbring, both Waupaca, were second North/South, while Sandra Kotinek, Wautoma, and Stephanie Schwingel, Coloma, captured third place.

Waupaca’s own Bart Blum and Gene Trieglaff, Wild Rose, were the East/West first-place winners, followed by the Waupaca team of Carol Peotter and Karen Holly. Arnold Miller, Waupaca, and Carol Konrad, Neshkoro, rounded out the winners’ circle with a third-place East/West finish. Honorable mention awards for the day went to four Waupaca players: John Gusmer and Nellie Bly, Genny Eskritt and Mary Ellen Boario.
