Madson, LaVerne E.

LaVerne E. Madson, age 93, of Waupaca, WI., formerly of Amherst, WI., passed away on Monday, January 31st, 2011 at Bethany Pines in Waupaca. He was born in the Town of Farmington, Waupaca Co., WI., on April 19, 1917, a son of the late William and Augusta (Hanson) Madson. LaVerne married Hazel M. Nelson on October 12, 1940 in Waupaca. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. LaVerne was a life long dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, wood working and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid fan of All Star Wrestling. LaVerne had been a member of the Civilian Conserviation Corps (C.C.C.). Survivors include his Wife: Hazel Madson, Waupaca, WI; Children: Nancy Handrich, Amherst, WI; Karen Borchert, Waupaca, WI; David (Kristy) Madson, Scandinavia, WI; Donald Madson, Scandinavia, WI; Richard (Robin) Madson, Amherst, WI; Brother: Julian Madson, Waupaca, WI; Sisters: Evelyn (Edgar) Knight, Colorado; Verna Schiek, Oconomowoc, WI; Donna Petersen, Peru, IL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson – Scott Borchert, sister – Marion Lind, brother – Lawrence Madson and a son-in-law – Randy Borchert. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst at 11 AM on Friday, February 4th, 2011, with Reverend John Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
