Sturm, Mildred

Mildred Laura (Buchholz) Sturm, age 90, Manawa, formerly of Big Falls, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 28, 2011. Mildred was born on October 28, 1920, in Little Wolf Township, daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (Hidde) Buchholz. She attended schools in the Manawa area and graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1939. On July 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Sturm. Mildred was a long time member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Big Falls, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years, belonged to the Ladies Aid, LWML, Bible Study classes and the Klick Klack Club of Big Falls. She was currently active at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Manawa with the Ladies Aid, LWML and Quilters. She loved to cook, sew, do craft work, gardening and also enjoyed playing cards. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Lyle) Wilson, and son, Dennis (Carolyn) Sturm; two sisters, LaVerne (Bob) Werth and Luella (Warren) Zimmerman and two brothers, Arlyn (Betty) Buchholz and Gilbert (Betty) Buchholz.. Her grandchildren: Sondra (Scott) Reierson, Bruce Wilson, Leslie (Doris) Wilson, Denise (Tim) Proctor, Jody (Janel) Wilson, Karolee (Jeremy) Hrobsky, Wendy (Mike) Orik, Amy Sturm, Jeremy (Megan) Sturm and Bradley Sturm; 19 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Three sister in-laws, Irma (Sturm) Waltman, Ruth (Sturm) Ferg and Shirley (Sturm) Miller, a brother in-law, David (Ruth) Sturm. Mildred is further survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a son Le Roy, two brothers, Norman and Melvin Buchholz, a grandson and great grand-daughter. Funeral Services for Mildred were held on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite and Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial was in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Visitation was held at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Manawa on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
