Branchford, Elsie M.

Elsie E. Branchford, age 89, of Fremont, went to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, She was born on April 15, 1921 in Wrightstown, WI the daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Kerkhoff) Liebergen. She loved the river as a young girl growing up on the family farms along the Fox River in Wrightstown and was fortunate enough to enjoy almost 40 years along the banks of the Wolf River in Fremont. Elsie was married to Howard Branchford. Together they built and ran Howie’s Fiesta Supper Club in Appleton until selling it in 1968. Howard preceded her in death in 1975. Elsie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega. Elsie worked at and later retired from Zwicker Knitting Mill in Waupaca. She also managed the Jim Dandy Diner in Fremont. She will always be remembered as a person who made the best of what came her way. Prior to her illness, Elsie enjoyed volunteering for the Meals on Wheels Program in Waupaca Co. and also enjoyed taking her daily walks around the Fremont community, taking care of her yard, and from time to time, shooting the breeze with her neighbors. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Dawn; her son, Bruce Branchford); Kristi Branchford and their children, Hailey and Grace Branchford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Hilda (Hubert) Captain, Mildred and Irene Liebergen; three brothers, Harold (Stella) Liebergen, Alvin (Ceil) Liebergen and Marvin (Hattie) Liebergan. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega. Father Brian Belongia will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Visitation was held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Elsie’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to Waupaca and Winnebago County Health Services Department., Lakeland Health Hospice, Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton for their help and support during her illness. They would also like to Thank the wonderful caring staff at the Alten Haus in Neenah for their love and care during her stay there. Mom loved you all.
