Goodacre, Marian A.

Marian Alice (Harris) Goodacre, 91, Buffalo Junction, VA, formerly of Waupaca, WI, went to meet her heavenly Father on Sunday February 6, 2011, in her home after a long illness. Marian was born July 24, 1919 in Auburndale, WI to Bert and Adelaide Harris. On July 17, 1946 she married Carl L. Goodacre in Chicago, IL. They were married one day short of 61 years when he passed away in July 2007. In addition to her parents and dear husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Goodacre; her first husband, Edwin Mork; four brothers and one sister.

Marian is survived by a daughter, Joanne (Art) Thompson, Tucson, AZ; 4 sons: Edwin (Rose Marie) Mork, Jr, Bellingham, WA; Harlen (Ada) Mork, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Dennis (Shirley) Mork, Tucson, AZ; and Rodney (Naomi) Goodacre, Buffalo Jct., VA, 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, as well as 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, two sisters: Tressie Hunter and Lucy Miller and two brothers: Andrew Harris and Harold Ray Harris. A very loving and caring person, Marian’s Christian life touched many. Throughout her life she worked in several nursing homes and hospitals as an LPN. She and her husband Carl started in their home what is now called Fellowship Baptist Church, located in Waupaca, WI. She always had an open home, ready for anyone needing a place to stay. She also was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, was involved with church work, including teaching Sunday school and WMU. She spent the last 4 years of her life with her son Rodney and his wife, who faithfully cared for her until her death. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. But we know that she loved the Lord and has now gone to her reward in Heaven, where she is beholding her Savior, and will face no more sorrow or cares. Interment was in the Central Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. Memorial services will be held later in the spring at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Waupaca. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
