Pankow, Ronald L.

Ronald L. Pankow, Age 66, of E1092 Camp Road, Waupaca and formerly from Stevens Point, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. He was born Nov. 8, 1944 in Decorah, IA, son of the late Raymond and Wilma (Weflen) Pankow. He entered the US Air Force on Feb. 10, 1964 serving as an Airman First Class. He received the National defense service medal, Air Force good conduct medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1967. Ron Attended UW Platteville graduating in 1971 earning his degree in Accounting. Ron entered into marriage with Trudy Prell on Aug. 17, 1968 in Waupaca. Ron was a Public Accountant since his time of graduation, working for Elmer Timm, Timm Schmidt and Co. and Clifton Gunderson LLP, retiring in 2002 and currently owned Pankow Tax and Accounting. Ron enjoyed spending his free time at the family cottage on Columbia Lake in Waupaca, which became his home in 2007. He loved being with his family and grandchildren. He took true joy in helping people when he was able to and by also using his strong knowledge of finances. He enjoyed visiting with friends and clients and spoiling Jiggs along with the neighborhood dogs, the squirrels and deer with many treats. He touched many people with his kindness and love for life, always treating everyone with respect. In lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established at a later date. Survivors include his wife Trudy; sons Scott of Waupaca, Curt (April Wistrom) of Waupaca and Jeff (Beth) of Clinton, MO. Grandchildren: Jadyn and Brendan Pankow and Emily and Jacob Zernicke. One Sister: Linda (Keith) Johnson of Decorah, Iowa, Mother in Law Betty Prell of Waupaca, Brother in law Gary (Cheryl) Prell of Waupaca & Sister in law Carol (Gerry) Jordan of Waupaca; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends and clients that were an enormous part of his life. A memorial service was held at 12:00 Noon Saturday Feb. 26, 2011 at Shepherd of the Lakes Church in Waupaca. Pastor Dean Wheeler Officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI Visitation was held from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday morning at the Church.
