The renovation of the former BP gas station on North Shawano St. to be the future home of Kwik Trip North is coming along nicely. According to the site supervisor, the retail crew will be handed the keys April 1 to stock shelves and prepare for a mid-April opening.
A gas upgrade was completed last fall, before the ground froze. This week the new gas pumps were installed by Walt’s Petroleum. The canopy on the gas pumps was improved, including the addition of new LED lighting. This lighting is energy efficient and designed to direct the light down to the consumer, not out into the road at motorists.
Inside, a big beer cave is completed so that all beer will be sold cold. The bathrooms have been tiled and the flooring is in. The drywall will go up in the next week or two, after electricians finish with wiring.
The supervisor said the transition has gone smooth and he is happy with how the project is progressing.
