Lutz, Maria

Maria D. “Carmen” Lutz, 72, became our guardian angel on March 5, 2011. She was born January 16, 1939 to the late Miguel and Simona Leyba in Kingsville, TX. On August 30, 1958 she married Ronald James Lutz. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. She was a devoted Navy wife, a loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, and a caring friend. Carmen enjoyed cooking, spoiling her grandkids (even if they weren’t hers) and the Green Bay Packers. She especially loved them this year when her Packer tree didn’t come down till after they won the Super Bowl. She will be greatly missed by her husband Ron; daughters: Frances (Jim) Lacy, South Milwaukee; Suzanne Mande, Scandinavia; grandchildren: Matthew and Alexandria Larkee; Jared, Zachary, and Emily Mande; and Lucas Joers; great-granddaughter, Joanna Edwards; non-formally adopted children and grandchildren: Jim Jewell, Michelle Meronek, Tammy Mohr, Bill and Brian Jewell, and Harley Dobbertin. Also her dearest friends: Nancy (Carl) Lantz and Don Johnson. She is further survived by sisters and brothers: Nelda (Bill) White, Fatti Garcia, Jesse (Rosa) Leyba, Mike (Diana) Leyba, and Keno (Elivira) Leyba; sisters-in-law: Becky Leyba, Diane Kuntz, Sharon (Duane) Georgesen and extended family. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe; father and mother-in-law, William and Betty Lutz; and dear friend, Mary Johnson. The funeral service will on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Bob Bohn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King. A memorial fund has been established for the Lupus Foundation of America. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
