Iola man charged with felony domestic violence offenses

Nicholas R. Goulet, 28, Iola, was charged with felony intimidation of a witness, strangulation and disorderly conduct.

On the afternoon of Dec. 11, 2010, the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call. The communications officer could hear a woman crying, but no one responded to her questions.

Another 911 call came in, reporting that Goulet was strangling his girlfriend, according to the criminal complaint.

Deputy Mark Goerlinger responded to the apartment where the call originated. A woman told him that when she come home with her two young children, one of them woke Goulet, who had been sleeping. He allegedly became angry, an argument ensued between him and the woman, and he grabbed her by the throat and choked her.

When he learned that a 911 call had been made, Goulet threatened to kill the woman, according to police.
