Seven state qualifiers are back for the Iola-Scandinavia track team.
They are seniors Tamas Peterson, Devin Peterson, Ben Hoffman, Tanner Lund, Lucas Albers and Jake Metz; and junior Jordan Beyersdorf.
Returning letterwinners are seniors Albers, Andrew Gneist, Hoffman, Lund, Ricky Melum, Metz, Devin Peterson, Tamas Peterson and Lindsey Wogsland; juniors Paige Berg, Beyersdorf, Sarah Brumer, James Cady, Kaylee Gray, Bradly Hardel, Nicole Huffman, Ashley Melum, Travis Peterson, Ryan Przybylski, Cole Sorenson; and sophomores Kiedra Ahlswede, Matt Ellie, John Faldet, Lidia Frias, Bryant Hintz, Matt Jarosh, Ellen Oligney, Derek Peterson and Bryan Schumacher.
“We are short on numbers on the girls’ side, but are looking forward to an exciting season with returning and new talent,” said Trish Nye, who coaches the squad with Bruce Beyersdorf. “Our numbers are really good on the boys side and we are hoping to take our third straight Central Wisconsin Conference title this season.”
The Thunderbirds will open the season Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, at the Stevens Point Invitational, a large indoor meet at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
