Clifford A. Johnson, King, Wisconsin, formerly of Almond, Wisconsin, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born November 25, 1925 in Almond, WI; son of Julius and Margaret (Geisler) Johnson. Clifford worked for 40 years at the Portage County Highway Department and served as president of their union. He was the Past Commander and Adjutant of the American Legion Post # 339 of Almond, WI, and also was a member of the VFW Post # 1037 of Waupaca, WI. Clifford served as the Past President of the Almond Village Board. He was a member of the Almond United Methodist Church. Clifford is survived by: Daughter: Katherine (Dale) Minks of Waupaca, WI; Son: Gary (Teri) Hoefferle of Waupaca, WI; Grandchildren: Toni (Steven) Kattestad of Appleton, WI, Christine (Marc) Helbach of Waupaca, WI, Ryan Johnson of Waupaca, WI, Trisha Cyr of Waupaca, WI, Joshua Minks of Waupaca, WI, Heather Sabel of Plainfield, WI, Erin Sabel of Waupaca, WI, Justin Hoefferle of Waupaca, WI, Erin (Ryan) Minton of Waupaca, WI; Great-Grandchildren: Austin, Joshua, and Sophia Kattestad, Cole Helbach, Hayden Nelson, and Blake Helbach, Keegan and Keatan Sabel, Austin Sabel, Aydin Pouh, Masson and Nate Minton; Brother: Gordon (Vieva) Johnson of Broomfield, CO; Sister: Shirley Johnson of Stevens Point, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Margaret Johnson; a son, Leighton Johnson; former wife, Beth Johnson; two brothers, George Johnson and Howard Johnson; and three sisters, Gladys King, Ferna Brabson, and Evelyn Jowett. A Visitation was on Saturday evening, March 19, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI, and also on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the church in Almond with the funeral service to follow. A Funeral Service was on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Almond United Methodist Church in Almond, WI. Reverend David Leistra will officiate. Burial was at the Almond Village Cemetery with full military honors following the service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
