Ragland, Myrtle T.

Myrtle T. Ragland, age 88, Waupaca died on Friday, April 08, 2011, following a short illness. Myrtle was born on November 8, 1922, in Mukwa Township daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Mentzel) Thompson. She was a resident of Goochland, Virginia for many years, where she worked as a social worker in the women’s prison. Myrtle returned to Wisconsin in 2006, living in Waupaca. She was a member for the First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega. Myrtle volunteered at the food pantry and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the book club. She is survived by her husband, Tom, Goochland, VA; sisters: Mable Stedman, Amherst; Marion Young, Manawa; Rachael (Bill) Farrell, Bloomington IN; brothers, John & Carol Thompson, New London; Alvin & Joanne Thompson, New London; Walter “Pete” & Avon Thompson, Lake Geneva; and Joe & Yvonne Thompson, Tigerton. Sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Betty Thompson, Albuquerque, NM; Barbara Ann Sheppard and Linde Ragland, both of Goochland VA. Myrtle is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Myrtle were held at First Presbyterian Church, Weyauwega on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sherwood McKay officiating. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Northport Ostrander Cemetery, Mukwa Township.
