Kempf, Gay D.

Gay D. Kempf, of Waupaca, age 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Bethany Home, with family by her side. She was born in Poy Sippi, WI, on August 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Otto and Caroline (Nelson) Marquardt. On May 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to Arlyn Kempf. Gay was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and enjoyed attending services there. She worked many years as a janitor for the Waupaca School District and the Waupaca Foundry. Her hobbies included crocheting, camping with her grandchildren, and listening to country music. She especially loved the outdoors and being barefoot.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Arlyn of Waupaca; children: Sandra (Scott) Bremmer, of Florida, and Reginald “Reggie” Kempf, of Waupaca; grandchildren: Matt (Jasara) Peskie of New York, Eric Peskie of Wausau, and Allen Kempf of Waupaca; great-granddaughter, Addison Rose; a sister, Betty Erickson of Wauwatosa; many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Rick; a brother, James Marquardt; sisters: Anna Nelson, Erma Quimby, LaRita Stahl, Yvonne Stiebs, Opal Nelson, Violet Hahn, and Ardella Rousseau. A Memorial Service was held at 11a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, the Rev. Dr. Charles L. Tews officiated. Visitation was from 10am until the time of the service. Burial of cremains was held in the Lind Center Cemetery.
