Solid pitching helped the Wolves baseball team to a 4-3 victory over Iola-Scandinavia on Monday, April 18. Austin Peterson struck out six batters in six innings, gave up three hits and walked only one. Dan Roenz earned the save striking out three batters in one inning of pitching.
Leading the Wolves at the plate offensively were Dan Roenz 1×3 and an RBI, Dave Sell 2×4 and an RBI, Don Sell 2×3 and an RBI and Tyler Page 1×3 and an RBI.
Head Coach Carey Celske said both team played well and had opportunities to break open the game. “The win was a definite credit to the guys who showed up to play defense. Manawa pitching is looking better, a credit to Peterson and Roenz keeping the pitch count down and allowing few base on balls.”
“Offensively we need to fill some voids in the lower third of the line up, but it’s early and hopefully we have a couple of guys step up to the challenge,” said coach Celske.
