Suelflow, Marlene D.

Marlene D. (Klotzbuecher) Suelflow, age 71, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away peacefully Monday, April 18, 2011, surrounded by family at Hospice of the Valley, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. She was born June 3, 1939, in Manawa, WI, to Clarence and Leona (Pidde) Klotzbuecher. Marlene attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Manawa for her elementary education, was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1957. She graduated from the Madison General Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. During her lifetime she worked as a registered nurse, a homemaker, and church receptionist at Christ Church-Lutheran in Phoenix. Marlene had the gift of hospitality and a vivacious personality that made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She enjoyed travel, fishing, collecting, and her passion was sharing her faith in the Lord Jesus. She was married to Robert E. Suelflow in Calvary Lutheran Chapel at the University of Wisconsin, Madison on June 3, 1961. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Janet Lynne (Isidoro) Manzo, Kona, HI; James David, Los Angeles, CA; and William Robert (Patricia), stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ; grandchildren; Joy, Daniel, Michelle and Raquel Manzo; brother-in-law James E. (Helen) Suelflow, Bloomington, IN; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Ruth (Zemple), and brother David. Her funeral service was held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Christ Church-Lutheran in Phoenix. She was interred at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christ Church-Lutheran School Building Fund, 3901 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018.
