McGlinch, Jane

Jane Elizabeth (Halcott) McGlinch , age 90, of Waupaca, WI , passed away May 16, 2011. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born in Jackson, MI, August 30th, 1920. After growing up in Jackson, Jane was the first female to enlist in the Army for World War II, from Jackson County, MI. She served in England and France during the war.

Jane married Charles Alexander McGlinch and had four daughters. Jane and her husband Charles moved to Waupaca in 1988 and lived here since. She is survived by her husband, Charles McGlinch, brother,
Robert F. Halcott and spouse Mary Halcott (Concord, SC); four daughter:
Kathy Spahr and spouse Thomas Spahr (Milford, DE), Mary Polebitski and spouse, Mark Polebitski (Waupaca, WI), Maureen Parent and spouse Stanley Parent (Waupaca, WI),
Monica Depies and spouse John Depies, (Appleton, WI), 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jane always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved family gatherings and outings. Jane enjoyed working on arts and crafts. Jane will always be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness. A private memorial service is scheduled at the Main Chapel – Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Jane E. McGlinch. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assiting the family with arrangements.
